Chapter 82: Get Your Motor Runnin'

The volume of the radio was blasting yet the sound of Bae's off key singing could be heard along with those iconic guitar riffs that Steppenwolf made famous so long ago. Bae was feeling independent, adventurous and ready to take on the world head on. The message in the music just added some more enthusiasm to the first day of his new life. He sang the chorus even louder while he was grateful that no one else could hear him.

Grandpa Wolfie made this mix made specifically for Bae's road trip to university and when it came to music Grandpa was the expert. His Grandfather also arranged for him to look at the fraternity on his first night. Wolfie was a member of that fraternity and was rumored to be quite the party animal in his day. A party was scheduled at the fraternity tonight and Bae was one of the few freshmen who was fortunate enough to receive an invitation. He was sure they wanted him to join but living at the fraternity was completely out of the question.  Bae's main objective was to study oceanography and he was sure that fraternity life would interfere with that.  Everything about the ocean and sea life always fascinated him and he was eager to learn as much as possible.  He did think that he should attend a party or two. All work and no play would make Bae a dull boy and he certainly didn't consider himself dull.   He was hoping he could convince his best friend Cassidy to go with him to the party but that seemed unlikely now.

When Bae first met Cassidy they both had the same hopes and dreams. They made specific plans together for the future.  Bae was the type to plan everything out and disliked anything or anyone who rocked the boat.  Cassidy would be attending university first so he would find a place for them to live while studying.  After university they were both going to join the navy to work as oceanographers.  A monkey wrench was thrown into that plan when Cassidy met this Javiera bitch. She even wormed her way into living in their apartment. Cass was even supposed to be on this road trip with Bae as carpooling was more energy efficient, but Cass suddenly had to leave two weeks earlier because Javiera was already there.  Bae understood why Cass wanted her around she had a great ass and a nice rack.  Who wouldn't want a girl who looked like that?   The problem was that Cass claims that he loves her and now he wants to marry her. How could Cass travel and explore the world with a ball and chain hanging off of his foot?  She changed everything. This was something Bae could and would never understand.  Sadly he had no choice but to tolerate her for Cassidy's sake.  Like it or not, she was a part of their lives.

As the song changed, Bae started to think about the recent past instead of the future. Last summer seemed to take forever as he was anxious to get out on his own, but for his parents it was another story. Every time Bae mentioned university with so much enthusiasm, he couldn’t help but noticed the bittersweet looks on his parent’s faces. They were indeed happy and proud that they prepared their son to start his own journey in life however the reality of letting go was beginning to set in. Chrissie and Mickey did want to help him get settled in but Bae convinced him that it was better they didn’t. They had his baby sister Morgan to take care of and of course all the work for them to move back to Aurora Skies. Chrissie was going through the morning sickness phase of her third pregnancy at the time so they didn't press the issue.

Bae’s girlfriend Shanta also had those same bittersweet looks on her face that his parent had all summer long when he drove her home the night before. They were attending different universities so they were not going to see each other for a while. She wanted to be a nurse so she decided to attend Académie Le Tour in Veronaville which had a better nursing program than Sim State University. Bae promised to call often and visit her on a break which was a promise he intended to keep. Due to the distance between the two universities those visits had to be overnight visits. He had special plans for the sleeping arrangements now that their relationship had moved up to a new level.

The day before Bae promised to spend the entire day with her on his little island. He picked up a radio, packed a lunch and was able to sneak out a 6 pack without his parents knowing.  His father was always warning him to stay away from any kind of booze.  Mermen had a low tolerance for the affects of alcohol and it tended to dehydrate their scales faster.  Bae figured what was the harm a couple of beers could be especially while he was on the island surrounded by salt water.

He wanted to remember everything about this day as he knew he would miss the smell of the salt air and sound of the waves as the floated onto the shore. He certainly was going to miss this place for sure as he wouldn’t see it until next summer. His breaks during the year would be spent with Shanta or visiting his parents in Aurora Skies

She wore this bikini on purpose. It was Bae's favorite and she knew the effect it had on him. His eyes were never off her whenever she wore it and she noticed the areas they always went to.  She really didn’t have to encourage him that much as she already felt his erect motivation when he pulled her close to him.  That motivation was always there whenever they were they were alone but when she pulled away from his advances he didn’t pursue.

Today everything was going to be different and she wasn’t going to pull away. She was ready to give her body and her love to him.  At least she thought she was ready.  She had to be ready. The Sim State university girls would tempt him and they would be more than willing to ease some of that tension for him. This is something she was certain of. She knew she had a very attractive boyfriend who also came from a wealthy family. Bae was definitely a catch and she knew someone would try to reel him in while she wasn't around. It wasn’t as if she didn’t love him or she didn’t want him to be the first. She just knew she had to give him a reason to stay interested in her and it had to be now.

The question in Bae's mind was, why did she have to wear this bathing suit today?  This sexy bikini was always pure torture for him.  All of her bikinis were torture for him.  Considering the limitations she set, he was already planning to spend some time in the water before going home.

He did respect her limitations but that didn't stop his hands from wandering while they were making out.  He was eighteen and had the normal needs most male eighteen year old would have. As his hands started to venture near new and forbidden areas he waited for her shoo his hand away.  It didn't happen.  This encouraged him to go a little further so he slipped his hand under her top. She still didn't stop him.  He caressed her breast and he heard a soft moan of pleasure from her lips when he played with her nipple. Not only was she not pushing him away she seemed to be enjoying it as much as he was.  Could she be ready?  Or did she find a new way to torture him? 

He moved his hands behind her neck so that he could start untying her top but he stopped before he did. He was already at the point of no return but seeing her boobs and then having to.....  He didn't want to think about it but he had to find out if she did indeed wanted to take this step with him.

“This is ok? Are you sure?” Bae whispered in her ears.

“I have never been more sure of anything in my life,” Shanta answered. “I love you, Bae and I’m ready.”

I’m ready were two words Bae was waiting to hear from her for a very long time. He continued to untie her top and he removed it. They made out a little more before he made a woman out of her right there on Bae's very own island paradise.  This was the girl who never let him pass second base but today of all days; she decided let him go all the way home. It might have been a little late in the game for Bae's liking but he was up for extra innings.

He drove her home around midnight and then they had to say their goodbyes to each other.

“I already miss you,” Shanta said with a tears in her eye.

“I’m going to miss you too.” Bae said “but don’t look so sad. We will make this work.”

“I can’t help it. I love you and I won’t be seeing you for a while.” She said.

“I’ll call you tomorrow my little pearl.” That was his special name for her and she always blushed when he called her that. “I’ll come to see you before you know it.” He whispered in her ears and he kissed her goodnight.

Never once did it dawn on him that she professed her love for him quite a few times that day. Bae was quite attached to her but love? No, he wasn’t there yet. Sailing, exploring and adventure were his future plans and were the only things on his mind besides sex.  Love was something that would come later, much later.  If at all.

The next morning the car was loaded and Bae said goodbye to his parents and to his baby sister.  He wanted to hold her but she was a bit fussy that morning.  It was almost as if she sensed that her big brother was leaving that day.  Bae just gave her a kiss on the forehead and waited for her to drift off to sleep.  He was going to miss her but pretty soon there would be another baby in the house for her to play with.

He went to look at his room one last time as his parents would be moving in less than one month. He grew too old for his old boat bed a long time ago but refused to give it up.  He loved his room exactly the way it was and his parents planned to set it all up in his bedroom in Aurora Springs. They knew he would never move there but they wanted him to know there would always be a room for him in their house.  Arrangements had already been made for him to own his own houseboat in Isla Paradiso.  His paternal Grandparents were acting as caregivers while he was away at school. 

Chrissie wanted to cry as her little boy drove away and eventually she couldn't hold back the tears.  The years seemed to go too fast for her and she wished he was still her little boy. Mickey held her hand and stood right beside her as he always knew how to calm her nerves when she needed it the most. It was a very emotional day for both of them and they were both proud of their son.

Bae promised he would drive carefully and he would put the top down when the sun became too strong. Being a vampire she was never fond of the sun but she was worried about Bae dehydrating. Bae didn’t listen to them as he wanted to exert his freedom and driving fast with the top down did look cool. Besides he knew enough to take a dip into any lake or beach that he passed by as he didn’t like the feeling of his scales becoming chapped and flaky. He also knew not to speed too much as he didn’t want to scratch up the car.

Just as soon as he heard Clapton on the guitar, Bae arrived at his destination. This always seem to happen, his road trips always ended as one of his favorite songs started playing. He honked on the horn and called out for Cass while keeping the volume blasting. There was absolutely no way that Cassidy or the whole neighborhood didn’t know that Bae had arrived but he continued to call out to his friend.

When Bae turned around a gorgeous blonde who was passing by caught his eye. She noticed the looks he was giving her and she walked up to introduce herself while the music played on.

“Hi, I’m Layla” she said in a seductive tone while giving him a come-hither look, “I see your playing my song”

Bae just took one look at this hot co-ed standing in front of him and he knew he was going to enjoy the next four years.

Chapter 79-Whose Fault is it Anyway?

A girlfriend? Did he actually bring a girlfriend with him? This was supposed to be a weekend just for the guys. No girls were allowed. He understood why Cassidy wanted a girlfriend but he should have left her behind where she belonged. Shanta was pissed at him because he made sure she wouldn’t be around but Cassidy just had to bring that Javiera person with him. Didn’t Cassidy realize that girls would come and go but best friends last forever? Bae couldn’t even believe his best buddy didn’t even tell him that he was seeing someone. They always told each other everything that happened in their lives but that was until now. Cassidy never said one word about her.

“It’s nice to meet you Bae,” Javiera said as she extended her hand to shake Bae’s hand. “Cassidy has told me so much about you.”

Bae paused for a moment as he didn’t want to shake her hand. He didn’t know why but there was something about her that he just didn’t like. After a few moments had passed, reluctantly he grasped her hand and obliged. “I wish I could say the same as Cassidy has not said anything to me about you” Bae answered.

“Bae I’m sorry to surprise you like this but I couldn’t wait for the two of you to meet each other. She is majoring in Oceanography, we met in Marine Biology class,” Cassidy answered.

“Cas told me you will be joining us as soon as you graduate,” Javiera said.

“That was the plan Cassidy and I had talked about. We planned on studying together.” Bae said.

“Well now there will be three of us studying together,” Cassidy said.

This day seemed to be getting better and better for Bae. Now she was going to study with them! Bae knew it would be difficult as Cassidy would be ahead of him but now there would be two of them ahead of him. There was still a year and a half before Bae left for university so maybe Cassidy would come to his senses by then and dump her.

“Why don’t you call Shanta and the four of us can go sailing?” Cassidy asked.

Shanta was still angry at him because he told her that he was unable to go to her party which was later on that night. Wasn’t this an ironic turn of events. His girlfriend was angry at him and Cassidy brought this bimbo with him. Since she was around there really wasn’t any reason why he shouldn’t go to Shanta’s party.

“Maybe tomorrow we can do that as today is Shanta’s birthday,” Bae said.

“It’s her birthday. That is wonderful but why weren’t you planning on spending the day with her?” Cassidy asked.

“She is having a party later on,” Bae answered.

“She didn’t invite you?” Cassidy asked.

“Yes she did and she extended the invitation to you also but I didn’t accept as we planned to hang out together,” Bae said.

“Sure it would great to finally meet Shanta. Maybe than the four of us could make plans for tomorrow together” Cassidy said.

Shanta wouldn’t have a reason to be angry at him as it would make her happy that he showed up. That would get Cassidy away from Javiera for the evening too and maybe Bae could talk to him without her around. A double date sounded like a good idea for tomorrow too. The girls would probably chit chat with each other and he could spend time with Cassidy. He called Shanta to tell her that he reconsidered and would be attending the party after all. She was happy to hear this and she wasn’t angry with him any longer. Bae thought at least one problem was solved. Little did he know things were about to get worse than they were before.

Later on at the party:

Shanta was thrilled that Bae changed his mind and would be attending the party after all. She loved Bae with all her heart but sometimes she worried as he was always sending her mixed signals. Every weekend they would go out and he was always sweet to her on their dates but the minute he talked about Cassidy or the future he always seemed distant. She would always start to worry about their relationship during those times but then he would do something sweet and she would forget all of her worries. It was just like with this party he said he wasn’t going to come but in the end he didn’t disappoint her and he showed up.

“Happy Birthday Babe” Bae said as he entered. He gave her a kiss and he handed her a package. “I have a little something for the prettiest girl in Isla Paradiso.”

She smiled and blushed, “You didn’t have to as you being here is just the present I wanted tonight.”

“I hope the invitation for Cassidy was still open because he will be here soon?” Bae asked.

“Well of course it is. I know you two are best friends and as I said the more the merrier” she said.

Things changed as soon as Cassidy walked in as Javiera was with him. Bae couldn’t believe he brought her with him and Shanta noticed that Bae’s attitude changed as soon as they arrived. Shanta was gracious and greeted her guests but she was not happy at all. Everything became clear to her the minute she found out that Cassidy brought a girlfriend home with him this weekend. The only reason that Bae showed up was because she was here and this weekend was no longer just for the guys. She was sure that if Cassidy had come home alone as Bae expected him to he wouldn’t have come to the party. For now she wouldn’t say anything as she didn’t want to cause a scene. This was her party and she would be damned if anything was going to ruin it.

After the party ended and all of the other guests left, Bae stayed a little longer to say goodnight to his girlfriend privately. This is when Shanta decided it was time to confront Bae with her suspicions. “Bae, I think we need to talk,” she said.

“I wanted to ask you something also,” he said “Would you like to go out and we can double with Cassidy and that girlfriend of his?”

“So now I’m ok to be included in your weekend plans?” she asked “What made you change your mind and decide to come after all? You were so adamant that this weekend was only supposed to be for the guys.”

Bae didn’t know what to say as he didn’t want to lie but he knew if he told the truth she would be upset. “Um… well…”

“Ok how about if I make this easier on you,” she said. “Did you change your mind because Cassidy brought Javiera with him? Is that the only reason you showed up here tonight and asked me out for tomorrow?”

“Well yes and no.” Bae answered. “Javiera coming may have been the reason I changed my mind but I’m glad that I came.” He looked deeply into her eyes and said “you looked beautiful tonight and you know how much I like you. You’re my girl and this is where I should be.”

“So that does mean the only reason you came was because of Javiera and not because I was important to you!” she yelled at him.

Bae seen the look on her face and he knew she was hurt. He felt bad and he didn’t know what to do to make her feel better. “But you are important to me,” he said “There isn’t any other girl I want to be with.”

“That’s right another girl is not the problem but you will toss me aside for your friend,” she yelled. “Bae just leave and come back when I am as important to you as your friend!”

Bae walked away feeling guilty because he knew she was angry and hurt. He decided to go to talk to Cassidy like he always did when he had a problem. However when he went there Cassidy was preoccupied.  He was too busy being all lovey dovey with Javiera so he walked away without saying anything. Bae figured she had to be a witch because she cast some kind of spell on his best friend. Cassidy was not the same person anymore as it was clear she had changed him.

He was still upset when he arrived home but his spirits picked up a little when Cheech ran up to greet him.  

He seen that his mother baked some chocolate chip cookies which were his favorite. Comfort food is exactly what he needed and Mom always seemed to know when he could use some. When he walked into the dining room he saw that both of his parents were waiting for him. This was strange because they usually watched TV until they knew he arrived home safely and on time.

“Thanks for the cookies Mom,” he said. “I really needed them tonight.”

“Your mother and I need to have a talk with you,” Mickey said as Bae sat down at the dining room table.

“Sure what about,” Bae said.

“I’m sure you noticed that your mother has not been feeling well lately,” Mickey said.

“Yes I have. Mom you said you thought it was a stomach virus. Is there something else wrong?” Bae asked.

“No Bae everything is fine,” Chrissie answered. “In fact the doctor has given me a clean bill of health.”

“There is something that you need to know,” Mickey said.

“I’m going to have a baby so you are going to have a little brother or sister very soon,” Chrissie said.

Things were already bad enough for Bae and he thought that coming home would make everything better.  Now he had to deal with the fact that his parents were still doing it which is something he never wanted to think about. “Great.  Perfect ending to a perfect day ” Bae said with very little enthusiasm as he placed both elbows on the table and held his head with his hand.

“Are you ok with this?” Chrissie said. “Your father and I hoped that you would be happy to welcome a new member of the family but you look as if you just lost your best friend.”

“I didn’t lose my best friend yet,” Bae said, “but I think I did lose my girlfriend.”

Mickey looked at Chrissie and she didn’t need to read his mind to know that her husband thought it best for him to handle this situation. She went upstairs to rest and left father and son alone to talk.

Bae told his father everything about Shanta’s party, Cassidy, Javiera and he didn’t leave out any details. His parents never used their mind reading abilities as they didn't need them.  They always were able to read him like a book but they never judged him and would always help him out with all of his problems.

“Son, you do realize that all relationships are based on respect, honesty, trust and communication. You made a promise to Shanta which she trusted you to keep. Shanta was willing to compromise for you but you were not willing to do the same for her” Mickey said.

“Cassidy coming home was very important to me” Bae said.

“Shanta knew that which is why she was willing to work with you on this.  Your promise was very important to Shanta. Don’t you think you could have made some time for her and kept your promise?” Mickey asked.

“I didn't think about that at the time but now everything is a mess. I really do like her and I feel guilty about hurting her,” Bae answered “I want to keep seeing her but I don’t know if she will.”

“Then you are just going to have to consider her feelings more and convince her that you want to stay in this relationship” Mickey said.

“How do I do that?” Bae asked, “She hates me right now.”

“If she is this important to you the only thing you can do is be sincere and honest when you talk to her” Mickey said. "Just speak from your heart as that is all you can do."

Bae went upstairs to bed but could hardly sleep as the events of the day went through his mind. He paced the floor of his room the entire night.  If only he knew that Javiera was coming he would have never broken his promise to Shanta and Shanta wouldn’t be angry with him. He couldn’t even talk to his best friend because Javiera was always clinging and hanging onto Cassidy. She even had to show up at that party tonight and she caused a whole bunch of trouble. Now he had a mess to clean up and it was all Javiera's fault.

Chapter 78-Promises are made to be Broken

One thing every Landgraab heir could always count on was a very special gift from Grandpa Wolfie on their 16th Birthday. Usually Wolfie would buy the most expensive car he could find as nothing was too good for his family. However for Bae a car was not the best present at all but Wolfie knew exactly what to buy for his great-great grandson. When Bae was a child he wouldn’t play with the electric train sets or remote control cars that everyone bought for him. Instead he would fill up the kitchen sink with water to sail his toy boats or he would fill up the bath tub so he could pretend to go on submarine adventures. If a car was not the toy of choice for Bae as a child it certainly wouldn’t be the toy for him as a teenager so Wolfie bought him a speedboat.

Everyday Bae would take that speedboat out on the ocean and spend hours on it. He felt more alive breathing in the scent of the salt water and feeling the cool breeze of the ocean wind as his boat glided across the ocean. Every time he heard the sound of the waves he knew he was at his true home and he spent as much time out on the ocean as he possibly could.

All of this would be even better if he could share it with his best friend Cassidy. Cassidy and Bae shared a love of the ocean and always did everything together until Cassidy graduated high school. Cassidy was two years older than Bae and was already attending university. They spoke on the phone with each other often and the two had made plans to spend a weekend sailing as soon as Cassidy came home for a holiday break.

One day while Bae was sailing he came across a small island. This island was never on any of his maps and against his better judgment he explored it a bit. The island was beautiful, peaceful and an exotic paradise. He didn’t see any sign of anyone living there so he decided that this would be his place.

Bae set up a tent on the island along with a couple of old lounge chairs that he found in the basement. He loved to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the island. Sometimes he would pack a lunch; bring a radio to make a day of it. He wished Cassidy was here so they could hang out together on the island but he had to wait for his best friend to come home on break for that. Instead he would build a fire and invite his girlfriend to join him. His first love was the sea but he certainly did enjoy the company of a pretty girl. Shanta Fraser was his girlfriend and this island was the perfect romantic setting for some alone time with her.

Bae could have had any girl he wanted at the high school as many of them flirted with him often enough but it was Shanta who caught his eye. She may have not been the most popular girl in school but she wasn’t a clueless poptart like the rest of them. She was smart, pretty and he enjoyed hanging out with her. On their first date he took her to the movies. Normally he would have preferred to see a movie with a whole lot of action but he settled for a romantic comedy for her. Later on he took her out for ice cream and he walked her home. Before he kissed her goodnight he asked if she would like to go to the fall festival with him and she agreed. Soon after that they started dating regularly and Bae asked her to go steady. Bae told her about his career plans and Shanta had plans of her own. She wanted to become a nurse and was attending a university that had a special nursing program. He figured that he would date her now but after high school they would most likely go their separate ways. Both of them had career plans which were very important to them and both of them needed to concentrate on studying. The problem was that she always dropped hints of wanting more from him than he was willing to give.

At home Bae loved both his parents and was very close to them. Well sometimes they were too close as having parents who are teachers meant having them always around. Luckily he was he was an “A” student who was dedicated to his studies and never caused any trouble. He could tell that his mother was already dreading the day when he left for university. Whenever the conversation came up Chrissie put on a brave face but always had a tear in her eye. Bae told her he would come home on breaks but clearly Chrissie was not ready to lose her baby boy. Bae had to admit that he did love the special attention his mother gave to him but sometimes he felt as if she was smothering him. She needed to accept the fact that he was growing up and was ready to live life on his own.

Bae was also very close with his father. When Bae was a child Mickey taught him how to fish and they would often go on fishing weekends together. Eventually they started going on less and less fishing trips as time passed by. Bae wanted and needed to be out on the beach and in the ocean water more and he was able to catch more fish underwater than he could with a fishing pole. Both of his parents were vampires and they weren’t too fond of the sunshine. Sure they had plenty of that special sunscreen that Grandma Holly would send them but they still preferred to stay in the shade and would rarely visit the beach.

Cheech didn’t mind visiting the beach at all and sometimes Bae would take him with him. Cheech was originally his mother’s dog but now he belonged to the whole family. They would play fetch, tug a war or just run around on the beach which both of them loved. He was a good dog who would even join Bae for a morning swim in the backyard pool.

There was one member of the family who understood Bae the most and that was Big Mama. Starr adored her grandson but she did not adore the title of Grandmother so she insisted on being called Big Mama. When Big Mama was his age she wanted to travel the world and take photographs of all the sites she seen. Whenever Bae visited his Grandparents he would always ask her to tell him stories of her travels and he was fascinated by all the photographs in her collection. Starr would listen to Bae’s dreams of sailing and exploring the oceans so she encouraged him to follow his dreams.

Since there was still some time before university Bae spent most of his time deep sea diving. He felt as if he were in another world underneath the water. The more he explored the more wonders he found on the ocean floor. He started collecting all the different types of seashells he could find and he would find bottles with messages in them. One time he even found a bottle that contained what looked like a part of a treasure map in it. He thought it would be awesome if one day he could find the rest of the map but the chances of that ever happening were slim to none. Most likely it wasn’t a real map anyway but for some reason Bae decided to keep it.

Cassidy called to say he would be coming home for a weekend and Bae couldn't wait to be reunited with his best buddy. Cassidy told Bae that he had some very special news that he wanted to share with him and he was looking forward to sailing. Bae was very excited until he remembered he had plans with Shanta. It was her 16th birthday and he had promised to attend her party. The decision was difficult but he decided to tell Shanta that he couldn’t attend and make it up to her somehow. They were going out that very night so he planned to tell her and he hoped that she would understand.

He went to her house to pick her up and she looked beautiful as always. “Hey babe are you ready to go?” Bae asked.

Shanta brushed her hair back and flashed a smile at him, “I sure am. Where are we going tonight?”

“I was thinking we could go to Starbucks and then hang out at the park for a while as we need to talk” Bae answered.

Shanta became a little curious and a bit nervous when she heard that. “What about is anything wrong?”

“No nothing is wrong but it can wait until we get to the park” he said.

“Why don’t you tell me now?” she asked, “If nothing is wrong I don’t see why you should wait.”

Bae knew that she would be disappointed so he might as well break the bad news now and get it over with. “Cassidy called and he will be coming home next weekend. If you remember I made plans with him to go sailing on his next break home.”

“Oh but next weekend is my birthday and why don’t you ask him to come to my party too? The more the merrier” she said.

“No, that is not going to work out as next weekend is only going to be the guys. I’m sorry but I can’t make it to the party but I do promise to make it up to you the weekend after.” Bae saw the look on her face and was surprised to see she was angry instead of disappointed.

“I don’t understand why you still can’t come to the party and spend time with Cassidy also. The party is at night so you won’t be sailing anyway” she snapped back.

“Cassidy and I are going to hang out at night. I haven’t seen him in months so we want to spend that time together” answered Bae.

“I still don’t see why you can’t come to the party with Cassidy. You promised you would be there and it’s only a couple of hours. I do hope that you reconsider and that you will be there. If not I will see you when I’m not with my friends!” Shanta walked back into her house and slammed the door.

Things didn’t go as Bae had hoped. He knew Shanta wouldn’t be happy but he never expected her to be that angry. He still wasn’t going to the party and planned to try and make it up to her. He did make a promise to her but if she was still angry there was not much more that he could do.

The day arrived when Cassidy was coming home and Bae went to the beach that morning where they planned to meet. He was looking forward to spending the weekend catching up on lost time with his best friend. It would be just the two of them hanging out together just like old times. Bae spotted his friend and he ran up to greet him.

“Cas! It’s great to see you man! How are things going at university?” Bae asked.

“It’s great over there man.” Cassidy answered “The studies are intense but they are fascinating. I can’t wait for you to join us.”

“These last two years in high school are going so slow. So are you ready to go sailing?” Bae said.

“I will be in a couple of minutes. I’m just waiting for someone to show up” Cassidy said. “Oh there she is now.”

 A lovely young woman walked up to Cassidy and gave him a kiss.

“Bae I would like you to meet my girlfriend Javiera. She is going to be hanging out with us this weekend."
