Chapter 60-Bad Boys

France was everything Starr dreamed it would be, the cafes, the art galleries, the shops and the beautiful French country side which she planned on taking many pictures of.  Starr loved absolutely everything about her job.  Each and every assignment seemed to be a new adventure in one exotic location or another.  She always received the better assignments and there were plenty of rumors flying around the office about that.  It hadn't gone unnoticed that Nick had delivered every assignment to her personally instead of his usual messenger service.   This little bit of gossip was the most popular topic of conversation at the water cooler.  Nick did have a lot of say on who received what assignment but Starr had talent and the publishers recognized it immediately as she was the most requested photographer at the Aurora Skies Times.

Starr knew she was the real deal and she would make it on her own without resorting to her "other" talents.  Not that she wasn't above using her feminine wiles for that purpose as she certainly wasn't, it was more the fact she didn't need to use them.  Her series of photographs on the effects of pollution in the environment appeared in many magazines and were practically famous.  A former Vice President who was heavily involved with nature and ecology even sent her a message to tell her how impressed he was with her photographs and the details she captured, but that wasn't her greatest honor which came from her grandmother.  Holly who was still writing her famous book series, wanted to use only Starr's photographs in every new publication she wrote.

Starr and Nick arrived at the nectary where they would be working.  This nectary was one of the oldest in France and was still a family owned business.  They were offered the use of the rooms above the nectary for their stay in France instead of a hotel room.  The family used to reside in those rooms but have since moved into a larger house.  It gave them easy access to the nectary and vineyards, there was also an office that Nick could use to write the article.  They spent the first day on a tour of the nectary learning everything they possible could about the nectar making process.

While Nick stayed in the room at his computer fast at work writing the article, Starr took pictures of the entire nectary.   She started with the vineyards and worked her way to the cellar where the nectar was actually produced and stored to age.

They finished the article in record time but neither one of them wanted to go home.  Starr wanted to see more of France and Nick wanted to spend more time with Starr.  Nick knew he had enough money in the budget to stay a day or two extra so it was time for them to enjoy France a bit.

Nick:  Now that everything is finished would you like to do the tourist thing and go to the museum with me?

Starr:  I have wanted to go there ever since we arrived, how did you know how much I was hoping for the opportunity to go.

Nick:  I know how much you love art so I couldn't think of a better way to spend the afternoon.

Starr:  Neither can I.  I would love to go.

Nick: Would it be ok if I take you to dinner afterwards?

Starr: This is sounded more and more like a date to me.

Nick: It could be a date, if you would like that?  I know I would like that myself.

Starr: Than it shall be a date.

Starr always thought that Nick wanted more than a friendly relationship with her as those are the signals she read.  She always caught him smiling and looking at her when he thought she didn't realize it but she did.  What confused her the most was that until now Nick never made any advances towards her when she expected him too.

She was attracted to him as he did indeed fit her bad boy type, but yet in some ways he didn't. Maybe it was the suit that she usually seen him wear or the fact that he was her boss that strayed him away from that bad boy image.  However there were many more ways he did fit her type like the earring he always wore even while in the suit, but most of all he was a vampire.  Everything about a vampire just oozed bad boy vibes to her and the fact she was a werewolf made the temptation even stronger. Her parents would never object to Nick but there was still something forbidden about werewolves with vampires and that made Nick all the more difficult to resist.

They spent the day at the museum, looking at painting and sculptures the hours seemed to fly by as if they were minutes.  She learned a lot about Nick that day and that they had more in common than she even knew.  He was a big fan of her Grandmothers books and he knew of more places to buy organic foods than even she did.  She told him her plans to do a series of photos on ecology and he was willing to work with her and write the articles to accompany the photos.

They had a quiet dinner and spent most of the night exchanging glances.  Starr didn't know where this was going but she hoped that Nick would want to take things slow.  She liked him but she wanted the same type of relationship as she had with Spencer.  It was at that moment that she realized she hadn't thought about Spencer for the entire day or the fact that she was beginning to lose touch with him.

When Spencer first left for med school they called and Skyped almost every day but over time it started to become less and less frequent.   Spencer was busy studying and Starr was traveling, their lives were headed in different directions which meant they had less time for each other.  She needed a friend and she felt very comfortable with Nick, but it was not the same as Spencer.  Her relationship with Spencer started as a trade off as she needed something from him.  She didn't need anything from Nick even though he was her boss, but spending time with Nick felt natural to her as if he was meant to be in her life.

Meanwhile at Home:

Denny was able to purchase 49% of the stock with Katherine's help, but he still was not a majority shareholder.  He was legally adopted by the Goodfellows and this excluded him from the legal heir clause in Chris Landgraab's will, which gave 2% to all legal heirs.  He needed to purchase 2% more in order take the company away from his father but could only purchase from another family member which he knew somehow he had to do.

After he gained control he planned to get even with as many family member as he could.  He would shut down the science lab where Dylan McIntyre was employeed.  Dylan researching a process for water purification and Denny intended to destroy all the data of his brother-in-laws work.  Landgraab Industries also purchased and currently owned the publication house which distributed Holly's books, that company he would liquidated immediately after the one that would give him the most pleasure. Moonlight Records was the recording label used by Wolfie and the Riff Raff and that would be the first one to go.  The other companies held in Landgraab Industries would be used to launder the dirty money he made from illegal activities.

Katherine had no idea what the outcome of helping Denny would do to her family as well as the Landgraab's.  She figured Wolfie had plenty of money and would still owned shares so no one would really be hurt except Starr.  Never did she dream that this would endanger the family's mission along with the fate of the universe, but her thirst for revenge blinded her to everything.

Denny needed to buy shares owned by a family member and Starr owned 2%.  Katherine advised him of Starr's weak point.   She was a party girl who usually came home super juiced every night, if he could get someone to wine and dine enough, she could be convinced to sell those shares.

This information pleased Denny because he knew just who was the perfect man to handle this job. He picked up his phone and called Johnny aka Giancarlo.

Denny: Get on the first flight to Aurora Skies.  I have a job for you to do.
