Chapter 56-A Snake in the Grass

Starr didn't see any need to unpack her bags when she arrived home from Monte Vista.  Her first assignment was in Egypt and her flight was already booked.  She was very excited to jump right into work but to her this did not seem like work.  Traveling the world and capturing its beauty on film was more of a calling to her than a job.  She knew she had a gift and she planned on showing it off as much as she was able to.

With her new life she longed for her independence, but finding the right house was not an easy task. Nothing in Aurora Skies seemed to suit her personality and she couldn't see herself living in these cheaply made houses.  She was a Landgraab heir and the granddaughter of a famous Rock Star, she deserved to live in style.  There was a construction company building new houses in Aurora Skies and when she seen the model home she fell in love with it.  A down payment was quickly placed on one of the new houses and all she had to do was wait for construction to be completed.

It was decided that it made more sense for her to stay at her Uncle's house while waiting for her own place.  Sandi and Dylan's house had only two bedrooms and they converted the gym into a room for Robin.  Now they also needed a nursery as there was a new baby on the way.

Hope brought new life into a once dreary house and into a once dreary Uncle.  It was nice to see her Uncle Caleb smiling again and he did stay home more.  The offices of Jackal and Bat Investigations where now offically closed.  Caleb wanted to spend as much time with his new wife as he possibly could and Sandi had already rejoined the force but now she was on maternity leave.  Caleb did receive the promotion he was expecting and he now worked on the Vice Squad.

The room in the attic was set up for Starr, so that both she and the newlyweds could have their privacy.  She liked to sleep in while recovering from the side effects of the night before.   The newlyweds, well they were newlyweds and that says it all.

During the day Hope was busy redecorating the house.  Starr couldn't blame her for redoing the entire place, in fact she would have done the same if she were her. Valerie once lived here as Uncle Caleb's wife and Hope needed to make this place her own.  There is also the fact that Valerie's taste left much to be desired. Hope was new to Aurora Skies so Starr was more than happy to show her around. They went shopping together as she herself needed everything for her own house.  Starr placed everything in storage as she waited for her house to be ready.

Starr was taking sides on her Aunt and Uncle's divorce and she didn't care who knew it. Valerie is her Aunt and they did grow up together but Uncle Caleb was more of a second father to her.  While her father was missing it was Uncle Caleb that read her bedtime stories and kissed her goodnight.  He helped find her father and brought him back home, than stepped aside to allow her to bond with her own father.  She might have had her differences with her parents but she did love both of them dearly. The only thing that was left to end that horrible chapter of that ordeal was to find Johnny Devito and make him pay for his crimes.  They knew Johnny held her father captive all that time and he was suspected to be the one who kidnapped Dylan.  If anyone could bring that asshole to justice it would be her Uncle.

Nick called and asked if he could come over to give her tickets and her itinerary.  He could have sent it over with a messenger but he had fun getting to know her at the wedding and really did want to see her again.  If he wasn't her boss he would have asked her on a date already, but its never a good idea to become involved with an employee no matter how much you are attracted to her.  There was no reason he couldn't see her as a friend especially when she was living with his niece.

When she arrived in Egypt she was not exactly impressed with the accommodations.  She made a mental note to talk to Nick about this when she returned home.  The rooms were too small, there was no room service, and she had to share the one bathroom with everyone. The worst part was there was no electricity which meant she couldn't use her curling iron.  This was totally unacceptable, she decided she would get straight to work and return home as fast as possible.

She went to get her camera and remembered that she left it in her other bag. There was a general store at the market but it looked old and run down but Starr was amazed at what she found there.  She found a Hikon QX40di Gladitor for $3,250 which they reduced to $2,225 because of her celebrity status.  This camera was way better than the one she had and she couldn't wait to use it.

Her accommodations may not be first class but she intended on traveling in first class, she hired a limo to take her around to all of the sites (Don't ask me how she managed it but she did)

While exploring the areas she heard a pungi, a wind instrument used by snake charmers.  She really wanted a photo of a snake charmer in action so as she listened to the music she looked to find her subject.

What she found she never expected, she thought it would be an Egyptian local, instead she found a fairy she met before.  She was hoping to run into him again as he was hot and was the type she knew she wanted.  The bad boy type from the other side of the tracks who was misunderstood by all but her and the one her parents would forbid her from seeing.

For the first time in years she was face to face with the man she met on prom night who she knew as Giancarlo.  This time things would be different as Grandpa Wolfie was no where near and couldn't interrupt.
