Chapter 20-Kiss the girl

This chapter was originally posted on 3/22/14

Abby was saying goodnight to Jules on the porch while Wolfie was watching them by the window and was not being very discreet about it at all.  Why was he not happy for them?  Wolfie knew he should be Jules and Abby were perfect for each other. Jules could give Abby the life that she wanted and deserved a life that she could never have while living in this house.  Yet there was something inside of him that just wanted to rush outside and stop this from going any further.  Was it the fact that Abby would move out if she married him?  There was also the question of where or in this case "when" would they live.  Jules real home was in the future, and there was the chance he might return there someday.  If Abby was his wife she would leave with him and Wolfie would never see her again.  The more Wolfie thought about it the more he wanted to stop them.  Could his father be right?

Earlier that evening:

Chris came over to visit with Wolfie's baby brother Ronny for a play date with Sandi.

In reality the babies play date was an excuse for the big kids to have their own play date.

Wolfie tried to concentrate but all he could think about was Abby and Jules out on a date and what they might have been doing.

Chris had seen enough to know that Wolfie was not himself.

Chris: OK thats it,  What is wrong with you tonight?

Wolfie: Nothing

Chris: I doubt that.  I'm winning this game which never happens, so something is either bothering you or you are letting me win.  You are too competitive to let me win so something must be bothering you.

Wolfie: Nothing is bothering me Dad.  Now will you just drop this.

Chris knew his son well enough to know that was a lie but decided to change the subject.  Little did Chris know he choose the wrong subject.

Chris: Where is Abby?

Wolfie: She is on a date.  With Jules of all people.

Chris: Oh! so that is what is bothering you.

Wolfie: And what does that supposed to mean?

Chris: You're jealous Son.

Wolfie: Now why would I be jealous?  Abby is my best friend, she is like one of the guys.  I have never even kissed her.  I'm not jealous.

Chris: Wolfie you got it bad for that girl and you don't even know it yet.  Your mother and I suspected you felt that way about her the day you talked to us about her being Sandi's adoptive mother, but this just proves it.

Wolfie: I'm not in love with her or anyone.  She is my best friend who happens to be a girl.  That is all.

Chris: I understand perfectly about having a best friend that happens to be a girl.  I had one back in Lunar Lakes myself.

Wolfie: Than you should understand.  You never mentioned her before, what happened to her?

Chris: I married her.

Could he really be in love with Abby?  Falling in love was never an option for his life, it was his biggest fear.  As a child he grew up watching his mother cry herself to sleep every night while she held a picture of his father close to her heart.  He never understood the depth of that pain until he thought about Jules taking Abby away forever.  He had to stop watching them because if they kissed he wasn't sure he could control the urge to transform into a wolf.  The last thing he wanted to do was create a scene.

He had to admit at least to himself that his father was right.  How was he going to handle this he had no idea, but it was late and Sandi would be up at the break of dawn.  He needed to think about this tomorrow.

What Wolfie didn't know was their date ended with a friendly hug.  Neither of them felt any magic and both knew there would be no second date.  They decided it was best to remain friends.

The next morning:

Wolfie and Jules met at the gym to workout.  Abby was at home watching Sandi so Wolfie knew he could question Jules about his date with Abby without her finding out.

Wolfie: Details Jules, what happened last night?

Jules: No details to give.

Wolfie: What?

Jules: Abby is a nice girl but she is not for me.  She is in love with someone else.

Wolfie: WHAT?  WHO?

Jules: Are you blind or just plain stupid?  The girl lives with you and you don't know?

Wolfie: I haven't a clue what you are talking about.

Jules: I thought I was the last person in this family to notice this.  Wrong again!

Wolfie: Just tell me who it is.

Jules: Wake up and smell the coffee Wolfman.  It’s you!  The whole night she only talked about you.  Her whole world practically revolves around you and you don't even have a clue.

Do you know how difficult it is to find a girl in this town that you have not been with? And when I do find one she is infatuated with you.

Wolfie: Jules there are plenty of girls out there for you, you just need to find the right one.  I'm betting that almighty power that guides us is cooking up something for you right now as we speak.

Jules: One can only hope, I'm tired of being picked on.  Doesn't she know I have a younger brother?

Wolfie:  Don't worry Verne will get his chance.  The pack is going to get bigger if you know what I mean.  Listen, I gotta go Man.  I have to get home and talk to Abby before she leaves for work.

Abby was already gone when Wolfie arrived, he worked later than her and of course she was already asleep by the time he got home.  He didn't get to talk to her until the next morning.

Abigail: Wow you are up early, what do I owe this honor to?

Wolfie: It's a beautiful day, can't waste it sleeping in. I love this song, May I have this dance senorita Cardona?

Wolfie gazed into her eyes and held her close.  He now knew that everyone was right and he was blind for not seeing this all along.  All of a sudden he wasn't afraid to take a chance on love, he pulled her even closer, leaned in and........

    1. She always did feel horrible about betraying him, but she also felt she didn't have a choice. When she thought of him as a womanizer she didn't have a problem with it but than she found out he really was a good guy.

  2. *gasp* The kiss. Hehe, he's going to have some tangled feelings if he ever finds out she betrayed him. I don't know if she now feels like she waited too long to tell him because now that he likes her enough to kiss her, the stronger feelings are, the harder it is when trust is compromised.

    1. It's not going to be good if he finds out about the betrayal its going to hurt him. He is afraid to make any kind of commitment so this is a very big step for him. It was never his plan to have those kind of feelings for anyone and he didn't even realize it happened.

Now that she knows he is not just a womanizer she does need to tell him the truth as he will help her out, but if she doesn't he will have a hard time forgiving her.

  3. Oh wow! Suspense. Like I said, you're great at these cliffhangers. I hope things work out for them, but I have a feeling things are way more complicated than that. I'm glad Chris and Jules saw that Abigail was in love with Wolfie and the other way around.

    1. It seemed everyone except Wolfie and Abby knew that they had feeling for each other. There is still the fact that Abby is not completely honest with him along with his fear of commitments, so they do still have some issues.
